About school

Founded in 1843 as the Sheffield School of Design, Sheffield Hallam has exercised a powerful impact on the city, region, nation and world. Today we are one of the UK’s largest and most diverse universities: a community of more than 30,000 students, 4,000 staff and more than 280,000 alumni around the world.

We provide people from all backgrounds with the opportunity to acquire the skills, knowledge and experience to succeed at whatever they choose to do. Campuses 

The university is based on two sites; the City Campus is located in the city centre near Sheffield railway station, while the Collegiate Crescent Campus is about two miles away in the Broomhall Estate off Ecclesall Road in south-west Sheffield. A third campus at Brent Cross Town in the London Borough of Barnet is expected to open for the 2025-26 academic year.

Award and certificate

- 83rd in the Times University Guide 2023

- 78th in the Guardian University Guide 2023

- First Class award and was ranked 15th out of 151 universities in the People & Planet University League 2015
- In 2020, awarded The Times and Sunday Times University of the Year award for teaching quality.
- An overall five-star rating and was given the top mark in seven of the eight categories it was assessed on including teaching, employability, facilities, innovation, inclusiveness and in the specialist category of Hospitality and Leisure Management.

Scholarship

International Scholarship

- WHO: All students apply for full-time taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses will automatically get this scholarship.

- HOW: a 3,000 GBP automatic tuition fee bursary

Alumni Scholarship

- WHO: Students who have completed a full time undergraduate degree at Sheffield Hallam University and continue to register for higher degree at Sheffield Hallam University.

- HOW: Scholarships are automatically considered when students apply. 2,000 GBP alumni discount for full-time postgraduate courses 1,000 GBP Postgraduate Taught Scholarship 10% Postgraduate Research Scholarship

Transform Together Scholarships
(50% discount on tuition fee)

- WHO: All international fee-paying students have been offered a place on a full-time undergraduate degree course or postgraduate taught course at Sheffield Hallam University.

- HOW: based on an application and interview.

Events and Leisure Management Dean's Scholarship (6,000 GBP discount)

- WHO: All self-funding students receive an offer and meet any conditions for the BSc (Hons) Events and Leisure Management (top up) at Sheffield Hallam University.

- HOW: To apply for the Dean’s Scholarship, you need to write a short personal statement.
